Studies
Degree Programme in Tourism Management gives the student an overall picture of the line of business in tourism, the people working there and the working principles. The aim is to help the student to perceive the society-related aspects and dimensions of tourism and to integrate it as part of international business. The meaning of cooperation and networking, which are characteristic to this industry, will become part of the student’s professional understanding and perspective. The degree programme offers the student qualifications to work in various planning, supervising and expert positions and as an entrepreneur. The studies combine theory, learning by doing and project work in various study modules. The student learns the international nature of the industry either by working with international tourists or learning of other cultures either through student exchange or by doing an industrial placement abroad. The student who has graduated from the Degree Programme in Tourism Management understands the growing economic significance of tourism and the possibilities the internationalization provides. He/she can create operable and feasible products, product groups and events tailored for various customer groups and segments. The student understands what creativity, personal activity and interpersonal skills mean as a reinforcing factor in business. International studies, innovativeness and close cooperation with the industry help the student make contacts for the future and give chances for career prospects. The teaching methods and open learning environment tend to develop the student’s enthusiastic, active and long-term hold on learning and developing the industry. Applying, critical, persistent, future-oriented and investigating approach of work is emphasized from the very beginning. The student chooses either Event Tourism or Adventure Tourism as his/her specialization line. He/she can take additional modules from our faculty and free electives from polytechnic studies of his/her choice.
Competences in the Degree Programme
The steps of professional development are defined by competences, combinations of the student’s knowledge, skills and attitude. Competence describes qualification, performance potential and professional and technical skills. Industry-oriented competences improve the sensibility of studies and intelligibility of the degree programme, which develops to a logically advancing continuum providing the students with basis for professional development.

Event Tourism Adventure Tourism
Specializes in planning, implementing, marketing and follow-up of various events. Special emphasis is on internationalization and cooperation. Catering and adventure services connected to event tourism are also studied. Customer relationship management and loyal customer programme are also highlighted.
Specializes in creating, planning and implementing of customer-oriented profitable adventure products to be implemented in the nature and in urban environment. Special emphasis is on producing an adventure programme, cooperation, overall management and customer-oriented, profitable business. The course also focuses on customer relationship management and loyal customer programme.
