Entrance examinations abroad 9 - 17 April 2014

Lahti University of Applied Sciences is a member of the FINNIPS-group which consists of 21 Finnish universities of applied sciences (FINNIPS = Finnish network for International Programmes). The entrance examinations can be taken in Finland or outside of Finland where they are organised in cooperation with this network.

The entrance examinations of all the three Bachelor's Degree Programmes mentioned above will be held in the countries listed below. The place of the exam is determined by the address of an applicant. Also applicants living in the neighbouring countries (mentioned in the brackets) can be invited to the entrance examinations of the respective country.

Applicants, who are not residing in countries listed below, are invited to the exams held in Finland only.

In addition, entrance examination of Nursing will be held also:

All the entrance exams abroad will be arranged during 1 April - 2 May 2014 through the FINNIPS network. Venues and dates will be informed later in the invitation letters.

Exams will be held only in places scheduled above. For example, all qualified applicants from Nigeria will be invited to the entrance examination organised in Finland.

Exam papers will not be sent to embassies or other places, like British Councils, on request of an applicant.

All applicants who have demonstrated their eligibility will be invited to the entrance examination.

Co-operating degree programmes

The applicant will only be invited to the entrance examinations by his/her highest option in the same co-operating programme. To decide which 1 - 4 degree programmes to apply for, please check which degree programmes in Finland accept the entrance examination results of each other here.

Please also note

Familiarise yourself with the visa policy of your own country before applying. In no cases can the universities of applied sciences  influence the decisions made by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland with regards to visas.

Previous entrance exams are not available for viewing.

All costs related to the entrance examination are to be covered by the applicant.

The structure of the entrance examinations

 

Degree Programme in International Business 2014

The International Business Entrance Exam 2014 consists of an essay and multiple choice questions which are based on a pre-reading material.
 
The pre-reading material for the International Business Entrance Exam 2014 consists of the following two PDF files: "Itella Annual Report" and "Itella Group Presentation", which you can find via these links:

The material is available on this website until 23 April 2014.
 
Applicants must study the material carefully before the entrance exam. Please note that you are not allowed to take the material to the actual exam with you, and neither will the material is beavailable during the exam.

If an applicant fails to reach the minimum point level in any of the examinations parts, he/she will be disqualified of the entrance examination. An applicant must score a minimum of 30 points in the exam in order to be selected.

 

Degree Programme in Business Information Technology 2014

The entrance examination is a written test based on the material made available at the entrance examination. No particular material is to be read in advance. The examination tests the applicant's motivation, logical thinking and reading comprehension skills, as well as writing skills.
 
Entrance examination will be organised in togehter with Haaga-Helia, Kemi-Tornio, Laurea and Oulu Universities of Applied Sciences.

Degree Programme in Nursing 2014

There is no pre-reading material.
The entrance examination consists of 4 parts:
  • a written material (text), which the applicant is allowed to utilise in her/his essay;
  • open ended questions which measure motivation and adequacy to study Nursing ;
  • a basic math test (multiplication, division, decimal fraction, percentage calculation), and 
  • a group interview.
Maximum points is 100. If an applicant fails to reach the minimum point level of 30, he/she will be disqualified of the entrance examination.
 
In addition, basic math test requires 12 out of 20 points. If the math result is less than 12 points, other parts are not evaluated.
