International Relations

The constructors of well-being and health

The Faculty of Social and Health Care focuses on educating students for providing care, well-being and rehabilitation. Furthermore research and developing activities for regional and professional needs are in an important role in the future. Our students are professionals of the future in the front line. They are also ideally positioned for developing innovations in social and health system organisations. Additional opportunities in an entrepreneurship path are an important aspect of the curriculum.

About the Faculty


The fields of study for undergraduate programmes at the Faculty of Social and Health Care are nursing, public health nursing, social services and physiotherapy. The Faculty emphasises for well-being in families and working environments as well as entrepreneurship in its activities. 

The Master’s degree programme in social and health care educates professionals to changing multi-disciplinary working environments. The basis of the leadership and development is evidence-based function and enquiring way of working. The aim is to develop co-operation and communication between organizations and work communities in order to create better services.

Activities


International activities have provided the Faculty diverse experiences. This has provided highly valued knowledge in specialist areas. Activities include student and expert exchanges through education networks, (ENPHE, Florence Net, FESET),  Erasmus intensive programmes, clinical studies and development workshops.

‘Optiimi’ is a learning centre that provides the resources for new ideas, creative innovations, multi-disciplinary activities and developing products together with the clients and students. It is fundamental for students in gaining experiences in the area of research and development.

Teachers and students do research and development work for both regional and global health promotion and welfare projects. A majority of studies and theses are linked to social and health care organisations, enterprises and other universities research.
