R&D Forum

Research and development forum consists of the persons responsible for research and development at Lahti University of Applied Sciences. It is a collegial discussion and developing arena which is open for instance for teachers, persons responsible for the international matters and cooperation with companies, students and persons representing economic life.

Tasks are

  1. to handle the questions related with developing research which have come up at the faculties,

  2. to make sure that the information about research and development flows inside the University of Applied Sciences

  3. to prepare decision-making regarding research and development

  4. to profile research and development by mapping out the research areas which cross the boarders of the faculties and

  5. to promote the strengthening of the scientific approach in the policies within the University of Applied Sciences and also in its close environment.

The tasks of the researchers and other personnel responsible for research at the faculties are

  1. to activate, to develop and to coordinate research and development at their own faculties,

  2. to be responsible for formulating, developing and carrying out research and development strategies at their own faculties,

  3. to define strength areas of research and development, to think up ideas and to plan research and development projects, which correspond to the strength areas, together with the teachers and the other personnel,

  4. to direct the developing of the project plans,

  5. to work out research programs on the basis of  the project plans which are carried out in the research groups. The research groups consist of the project researchers, teachers, who do research work, and students. The research programs operate with the aid of an outside funding.

  6. to prepare frequently asked questions, which are linked with the own sphere of  responsibilities, informed, presented and considered in the research and development forum. 

Research Director

  1. is responsible for the research and development forum and  

  2. prepares for instance strategic alignments, which direct research and  development at Lahti University of Applied Sciences, on the basis of the discussions in  research and development forum. The strategic alignments aim to create  and to develop fundamental conditions of research and development.
