13.6.2012 13:05 | Uutinen
The 10th Lahti Science Day will be held at the learning centre Fellmannia (Kirkkokatu 27) on Tuesday, 27th of November 2012 at 9.00 a.m. - 4.00 p.m.

The seminar is organised by the Lahti University Consortium, the Lahti University of Applied Sciences and the Vierumäki Unit of the Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences.
The seminar will explore a wide spectrum of research and development carried out in the Päijät-Häme region and will assess how this work promotes business and well-being in the area. The key-note speaker will be the Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade PhD Alexander Stubb. The main target group for the Lahti Science Day is the general public.
The main themes of the Lahti Science Day are:

  • Practice-oriented innovation, entrepreneurship and business
  • Well-being, culture and physical exercise
  • Environmental research and technology
  • Design and communication
  • Development of education and training
Besides conventional scientific research, the programme committee welcomes presentations using alternative research methods, for example arts-based or innovative methods.

Are you interested in presenting your work at the seminar?

All those interested in presenting their work (in English or in Finnish) at the seminar are requested to send an abstract by the  4th September 2012.
The abstract should describe the objectives, methods, results and conclusions of the study. Abstracts presenting research methods only are more informal. Besides seminar talks, poster presentations and presentations using alternative methods will also be accepted.
A recently started project that has not yet produced research results can only be presented as a poster. The programme committee will select the seminar talks and may reposition a presentation to the poster session in order to balance the programme. The planned duration of a talk will be 15 minutes + 5 minutes allocated for discussion.

All presentations will be published

Information on the acceptance of the abstracts will be delivered via email by the  21st of September 2012.
All accepted abstracts will be available in the printed programme and presentations will be published on the Science Day Internet site after the seminar, with the permission from the writer(s).
We are looking forward to receive your contribution to the Lahti Science Day!
