Laurea UAS organized a writing competition during autumn 2012 for all FUAS students. The topic for the competition essays was international student exchange, in order to celebrate ERASMUS’ 25 years and to gain information on how higher education students see the benefits of the student exchange.

The winning essays were chosen by the Professor Alan Barrell at University of Cambrigde, and two of the best essays were rewarded with a trip to Cambridge.

One of the winners was a student from Lahti UAS, Ms Huong Thuy Dao with her essay “A Life Changing Journey”, which captures the true mindset and spirit of belief in “A World Without Borders”.
Together with Ms Mari Autio, as student from HAMK UAS, they visited Cambridge in July 2013. During the intensive 4-day programme they visited Pembroke College and Hills Road Sixth Form College where they took part in Elevator Pitch workshops, Judge Business School and Cambridge Science Park with Professor Alan Barrell.
Both girls reported that the trip to Cambridge was a great success!
