Lahti University of Applied Sciences at a Fair in Brno, the Czech Republic


Lahti University of Applied Sciences is attending the Gaudeamus Education and Life Long Learning Fair in Brno, the Czech Republic. The Head of International Relations Mr Timo Ahonen is representing Pinnet, the Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences network for the development of internationalisation, at the fair organised by WEBA. The fair draws approximately 30,000 students, mainly from secondary schools, to learn about higher education opportunities in the Czech Republic and abroad.

International Conference: Promoting Entrepreneurship by Universities
April 20 - 22, 2008 in Hämeenlinna, Finland

Promoting Entrepreneurship by Universities is a follow-up to the FINPIN Conference held in Lahti, 2006. At the Conference entrepreneurship and business incubating processes in higher education were discussed for the first time on the international level. The forthcoming conference will focus on how the universities will promote entrepreneurship by means of research, education, promotion of activities, and transfer of best practices.

The conference will be a meeting forum for teachers, researchers, practitioners, and politicians who are interested in themes and issues concerning entrepreneurship and especially who want to share their knowledge and best practices.

Proceedings of the FINPIN 2008 Conference, which includes selection of full papers presented at the conference, will be published after the Conference.

The FINPIN 2008 Conference is organised by: FINPIN, HAMK University of Applied Sciences and Häme Convention Bureau.

New cooperation agreement in Japan

Lahti University of Applied Sciences and Kyoto Institute of Technology have signed a general cooperation agreement and a memorandum on student exchange for a period of five years (2008-2012).

Physical Activity education reorganised

All activities of the Faculty of Physical Activity at Lahti University of Applied Sciences will be merged to Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences at their Vierumäki unit as of 1 August 2008.

The unit is located approximately 30 kms north of Lahti. The staff and students will move to there in August 2008.
 
For our international cooperation this reorganisation means that Lahti University of Applied Sciences will not renew any agreements in the field of physical education at the end of this academic year. All renewals will be done by Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences.

New cooperation agreement in Canada

Lahti University of Applied Sciences and Ontario College of Art and Design (Toronto) have signed a new cooperation agreement in order to provide additional education opportunities for students of both institutions.

Students from third countries arriving after 1.9.2007 must have health insurance

Citizens of third countries arriving in Finland for the purpose of study or student exchange after and including 1.9.2007 are required to have health insurance, if the study or student exchange lasts for more than three months.

Health insurance is a requirement for obtaining a residence permit for studies.
