PRINCIPAL INSTRUMENT (126 ECTS)
Objectives and contents: A profound technical and artistic command of the student’s principal instrument.
Prerequisites: Course I or D in the student’s principal instrument.
Methods and assessment: Individual tutoring and practising, yearly recital and final recital
ORCHESTRA (12 ECTS)
(major subject: an orchestral instrument)
Objectives and contents: The students know the central principles and practices of playing in an orchestra, learn to play in their own orchestra group and in an orchestra in general.
Methods and assessment: Group lessons. Pass/fail.
CHAMBER MUSIC, ACCOMPANIMENT, CHOIR, ENSEMBLE (12 ECTS)
Objectives and contents: The students learn to play together with other musicians and familiarise themselves with the central chamber music, ensemble, lied or choir repertoire or accompaniment.
Methods and assessment: Small group and group lessons, public performance at least twice a semester (or once if the composition is exceptionally extensive). Pass/fail.
REPERTORY AND LITERATURE STUDIES (6 ECTS)
Objectives and contents: The student familiarises him/herself with the principal compositions written for his/her principal instrument and/or literature connected with his/her principal instrument.
Methods and assessment: Lectures, group work and exam. Pass/fail.
SECONDARY INSTRUMENT, PIANO (8 ECTS)
(major subject: voice)
Objectives and contents: The student is able to perform simple accompaniments (in performance situations) as well as practise even difficult compositions with the aid of piano.
Methods and assessment: Individual tutoring, course performances.
FREE ACCOMPANIMENT 1 AND 2 (6 ECTS)
Objectives and contents: The student is able to create simple accompaniments based on a given melody with and without the aid of chord symbols and to transpose.
Methods and assessment: Small group lessons, practising.
LIED SEMINAR (5 or 4 ECTS)
(major subject: voice or piano)
Objectives and contents: The students have a knowledge of the essential lied repertoire and are acquainted with the problematics of practical lied work as well as their solutions.
