Banks are normally open Monday-Friday from 9.00 or 9.15 to 16.15 or 16.30. Cash dispensers (Otto) are available to the customers of all banks; you will need a cash card or bank card to use them.
All banks have branches throughout the country. The biggest bank is Nordea, but Osuuspankki Group and Sampo also have a lot of branches, especially in the countryside. There is no charge for deposits or withdrawals in any of them.
Currency can be exchanged at any bank in Finland. It is worth changing large amounts at a time, to avoid service charges. Some banks also have automatic currency exchange machines.
The major credit cards (Visa, Eurocard, Access, MasterCard, Diner's Club and American Express) are accepted throughout the country; however, Visa is the most commonly accepted one.

Mobile phones are very common in Finland. If you have one, please check with your operator at home about their roaming agreement with a Finnish operator. The advantage with roaming is that you keep your domestic phone number; the drawback is that you will be charged heavily for the calls. Alternatively, you can buy pre-paid Finnish SIM cards; they are sold for example at R-kiosks.
Pharmacies
'Apteekki' sells both medicine and assorted products related to health. It does not sell groceries apart from occasional sweets. There are some basic medicine that are available for everyone, such as flu and cough medicine, mild pain killers and allergy medicine etc. Some of them can also be prescribed by a doctor, which decreases the price of the drug.
Antibiotics, strong pain killers, depression medicine etc. are always on prescription and can only be sold to the person whom they were prescribed to.
