Past
Lahti University of Applied Sciences (at the time Lahti Polytechnic) was established in the autumn of 1991 by an amalgamation of eight colleges to form a new multi-disciplinary institution. The educational tradition, though, dates back to as far as the year 1899 when the earliest predecessor of the present Lahti University of Applied Sciences was founded in Lahti.
Throughout the history the aim of the predecessors of Lahti University of Applied Sciences has been to educate professionals for the needs of the working life; this aim is still at the heart of Lahti University of Applied Sciences today.
