Degree programme in visual communication

The aim is to provide students with a competence to manage in the continuously changing field of photography. As professionals in visual communication, they should be able to apply visual thinking and expression, a sense of style and proportion as well as technical skills gained during the basic and professional studies.

Photographers must be capable of generating ideas and mastering technical details and materials, as well as engage in both independent and team work. In addition, photographers must be able to follow the technical and expressive development of visual and audiovisual media and graphic production.

Some graduates will find employment in newspapers and magazines. They will need a sound general knowledge and familiarisation with and interest in the themes they work with. Some graduates will be producing images for advertising and informative purposes. In a commercial environment, photographers must both master technology and materials and possess co-operative and entrepreneurial skills.

Photographers also find employment in various organisations, such as museums, institutions of higher learning, communication colleges and research centres, in documentation, information and teaching tasks. Some graduates work as independent artists, combining commercial commissions and individual visual expression.
