Specialisation Line in Applied Art
Studies in Design Pedagogy/Applied Art and Design focus on theoretical, practical and artistic skills related to design, product development, product manufacturing, material studies, as well as communication skills and instruction. The aim is to create all-round design professionals. The emphasis lies on practical and artistic skills. Major subject studies include design, arts and crafts, material studies, manufacturing skills, communication and instruction skills and IT skills.
Students may choose their focus from within the specialisation line. They may also specialise in different materials. Job opportunities depend essentially on the individual choices made by the student. Employment can be found in an industry that uses design services, design agencies providing such services, or educational and instructional services in design, handicraft and applied art. Students with the vocational qualification of artisan are preferred in the application process.
A polytechnic degree and sufficient work experience give eligibility for pedagogical studies in order to become a teacher specialising in design, handicrafts and applied art.
