International Relations

International Activities

The Institute of Fine Arts has co-operation and exchange agreements within European education through the collaboration programmes Erasmus, First and NordPlus. Additional bilateral co-operation agreements exist with schools outside Europe. About 20 % of the Institute's students study every year abroad for 3 to 6 months, and reciprocally, an equal number of foreign art students come to study in Lahti. The existing co-operation agreements also generate teacher exchange.

Sami Leutola, Bachelor of Culture and Arts:

"The Institute of Fine Arts causes serious addiction but, at the same time, gives a great opportunity for self-expression. There are challenges for a life long learning process. The school provides excellent equipment facilities and opportunities to produce art in many forms. Flexible working hours and independent work are fascinating but, simultaneously, require lot of responsibility."
