How to apply

Entry requirements

Students are selected on the basis of their performance in entrance examinations.

A person who has passed the entrance examination can be accepted to study at the Institute of Fine Arts. The entrance requirement is either the completion of the Finnish upper secondary level education, i.e. Matriculation examination (roughly equivalent to GCE A-level, baccalaureat, or (Abitur), the completion of a vocational education programme at the school level on the desired main field of study (diploma), or the corresponding studies abroad.

Students with a comprehensive school certificate can also be accepted on special grounds to the degree programme of fine arts. In such case the insufficient basic education can be compensated with an exceptional artistic talent and other education related to the field of art.

How to apply to the degree programme?

  • Download the application documents (in Finnish) available at
