Lahti UAS is co-operating with FINNIPS-group consisting of 22 UAS's (FINNIPS = Finnish network for International Programmes). The entrance examination can be taken either in Finland or outside Finland in one of the countries where Finnips organizes them.

All entrance exams abroad will be arranged during 11 - 20 April 2012 through the FINNIPS network. Venues and dates will be informed later in invitation letters.


Exams will be held only in places scheduled above. For example, all qualified applicants from Nigeria will be invited to the entrance examination held in Finland.

Exam papers will not be sent to embassies or other places, like British Councils, on request of an applicant.

All applicants who have demonstrated their eligibility will be invited to the entrance examination.

Participation in entrance examinations
Get to know the visa policy of your own country before applying. The Universities of Applied Sciences cannot in any case influence the decisions made by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland in regards of visas.

Previous entrance exams are not available for viewing.

All costs related to the entrance examination are to be covered by the applicant.

Composition of the Entrance Examinations and pre-reading material


DEGREE PROGRAMME in INTERNATI0NAL BUSINESS
in April 2012

The Entrance Exam is based on the following pre-reading material. The applicant must study the material carefully before coming to the entrance exam. The applicant cannot take this material to the actual entrance exam and the material is not available for the applicant during the actual entrance exam. There will be an essay and 15 multiple choice questions based on this pre-reading material.

International Business Entrance Exam 2012 will be based on Metso Annual Report 2010 "Results by Working Together". You can download it as a PDF file here (5.25 MB) or to read it electronically at

The report consists of five sections and you are advised to read the entire report for general understanding. You are then advised to concentrate on sections titled Metso (pp.1-49), Business Review (pp.50-68), Financial Statements (pp.137-148) and Governance (pp.149-166).

DEGREE PROGRAMME in BUSINESS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
in April 2012

The entrance examination is a written test based on the material made available at the entrance examination. No advance material needs to be acquired. The examination tests the applicants's motivation, logical thinking and reading comprehension skills as well as writing skills.

Common entrance examination with Haaga-Helia, Kemi-Tornio, Laurea and Oulu universities of Applied Sciences.

DEGREE PROGRAMME in NURSING
in April 2012

There is no pre-reading material.

The entrance examination consists of 4 parts:

  • the exam includes written material (text), which the applicant is allowed to utilize in her/his essay.
  • open ended questions which measure motivation and adequacy to study Nursing
  • basic math test (multiplication, division, decimal fraction, percentage calculation)
  • group interview

Maximum points 100. If an applicant fails to reach the minimum point level 30, he/she will be disqualified in the entrance examination.
